Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack

So tonight we went to our 3rd Twins game. I know you are getting sick of these Twins posts. I don't have much to comment on since they choked against the Royals with a final score of 8-1. The highlight of the game was when a fan ran across the field and got slammed by security. At least last night was awesome.

Take me Out with the Crowd

Last night, Sept 25th, the Twins played a huge game against the White Sox(boo). It started off good with a run in the bottom of the 1st, but it all fell apart when a couple errors by the twins allowed 6 runs by the sox in the top of the 4th. It was pretty tragic but we never gave up hope and run by run, inning by inning we slowly tied it up and went into extra innings. The twins were awesome and in the 10th inning we won 7-6. Going into the game the sox led us in the division by half a game. Now we are number one in our division. It was so insane at the Metrodome. Justin and I both came home hoarse and with little of our voices left. It was a great experience to share the love with over 40,000 people. It was one of the most fun sporting events we have ever been to. We love our Twins, and I think I am starting to develop a crush on number 22, Carlos Gomez.

I know, he is cute right?

My Project

Our lovely apartment here in Minnesota has lovely white walls. Since our new t.v. is a flat screen on a low stand there was a ton of white empty space above it. Wall art can get pretty pricey so I decided to make some of my own. About 30 bucks and half an hour later here is what I came up with. I really like it. I have never been an orange person, but love I these patterns.

A visit from my Pops

My dad took a business trip to South Dakota this past weekend and his flight stopped in Minneapolis. He was able to work it out so that he could come and stay the night with us on Sunday. It was so great to see my dad and to have him see where we are living. We had a great time sitting around the table chatting and eating ice cream. The only downside was it was too dang short of a visit. It was sad to have him leave the next morning. Dad, we love you so much! Thanks for the golf clubs!

Victoria Rose

Last night at 10:13 p.m. We became an aunt/uncle to the sweetest little girl. Victoria Rose Atkinson (I know, the name is gorgeous) was welcomed into the world. We still can't believe that Shawn and Krystal have a kid. I know that all babies are cute, but knowing that this little one is my niece makes it so different and wonderful. We are so excited that the first little Atkinson grandchild is here. We love her so much. Congratulations Shawn and Krystal.

Nightlife

So last night Justin and I went out to a bar. Before you start freaking out mom let me explain. We decided to go out since it was friday and get some good food and anyone that knows us well knows that we LOVE coupons. The other day in the mail we got a bunch of buy one get one free meal coupons but most of them happen to be at bars. We ended up going to a bar called Sally's and had some amazing sandwiches. So yes we went to a bar on a friday night and yes we drank water, ate sandwiches, and even used a coupon. I am sure our waitress thought we were freaks, but I think we are awesome!

Take me out to the ball game!

On Wed Sept 10th Justin and I went to our first Minnesota Twins game. The played the KC Royals and won 7-1. We had great seats, ate some 1 dollar hot dogs, and enjoyed cheering for our new home team. This was the first game of many more to come, in fact we already have tickets for another game! GO TWINS!

The Annual MHA "Fishing" Trip!

The weekend of September 5-7 was the Annual MHA "Fishing Trip". I put the fishing part in quotes because no one fishes. It was a great opportunity to get to know Justin's classmates a lot better. We stayed in a cute little cabin right on the lake and we had a lot of fun using the paddle boats, playing beach volleyball, and sitting around the campfire as everyone got drunk(all the "MHA Mormons" excluded). We also learned a couple new games that are Awesome! We learned bocce ball(pronounced bochi) and cornhole. The games were a lot of fun, the company was fabulous, the food plentiful and the view stunning.

First Day of School

Justin is such a good sport and let me take a cheesy picture of him on his first day of school. I can't believe he is a graduate student and we are in Minneapolis! Today Justin started the Masters in Healthcare Administration program at the University of Minnesota. Justin, I am so proud of you! You are such a wonderful husband and I am so grateful you are such a hard worker and you are taking on a couple more years of school so we can have a great future. I love you!

Labor Day

On labor day we spent the afternoon at lake JoHanna with some friends from the ward. We played a little football in the water, had some lunch and we both got really killer sunburns. Annie and Ryan also introduced me to Nutella spread which is delicious! It was a great, relaxing afternoon.

Familiar Faces From aFar

On Sunday the 31st we had some exciting visitors from Utah. Jesse, Kari and Lia Mortenson were here visiting Jesse's brother Scott who is in the same program as Justin. Jesse and Justin were friends in high school, and they were in our ward back home. It was really fun to see our friends clear out here in Minnesota!

35W Bridge

A couple days ago Justin and I went to see the progress that is coming on the 35W bridge that collapsed about a year ago. It is coming along pretty well. The bridge is about 3 miles away from our house and it still seems unreal that something like that could actually happen since we drive over bridges all the time here. There were signs up that showed how the bridge is built and it was pretty interesting. to see it.

Split Rock Lighthouse

Here is a picture from Split Rock Lighthouse from our trip to duluth. We got caught in a huge storm and we were the only people crazy enough to be at the lighthouse in the pouring rain.
